Immersive games that bring science to life.
Solar Sorter
-
This immersive experience is meant to excite patrons to learn more about our solar system. The sci-fi environment contains a miniaturized version of the solar system where users interact with the planets of our solar system and place them in the appropriate order in orbits around the sun. Instructions are given by a world-space UI panel, which updates to show planet-specific information whenever a planet model is picked up by the player.

Virus Builder VR
-
The main learning objective for this project is to understand the parts of a virus. This is accomplished through the core mechanics of building the virus in the game. Mechanical learning content is supplemented with museum style learning content is posted for the user to view at their leisure within the virtual reality space. Players can use bacteriophage as ammunition against bacteria in their environment, and is meant to communicate the clinical application of these viruses as an antibiotic therapeutic.

Journal ExplorAR
-
Xray crystallography is a pivotal technique used to elucidate the structure of proteins and other biomolecules, either alone or in complex with binding partners. These data are disseminated through scientific articles. Yet given the 3D nature of the data, the amount of visual data authors can convey is limited by iterative, 2D representations. While readers can view 3D models through web-based or local molecular browsers, these 3D representations are brought out of context of their papers and often lack author annotations. The purpose of this project is to address this communication gap by bringing the 3D functionality and interactability of molecular browsers to a companion app that recreates author figures with their corresponding annotations.

Poly InvadAR
-
This short technical project was a learning exercise for augmented reality using AR Core and AR Foundation in Unity. A personal learning goal was to experiment with occlusion shaders to fake geometry the receded into the play surface.

Robo Ribosome
-
Inspired by classic tile matching games, Robo Ribosome is a serious game that teaches fundamental concepts of protein synthesis. The fast-paced and repetitive gameplay helps facilitate otherwise tedious memorization of amino acid nomenclature, while scaffolding addition educational content through the tutorial and end-game factoids.

Interactive Molecular Poster
-
This prototype is a reimagining of the classical molecular visualization poster. Content is pared down and made accessible through contextual triggers that are activated as users interact with poster elements. The idea is to reduce cognitive load, providing information only as relevant, while improving engagement by making normally static elements more dynamic.
